Biographical/historical: Paul Taglioni was the son of the choreographer Filippo Taglioni and the brother of Marie Taglioni, who together ushered in the Romantic era of ballet with La sylphide (1832). Paul too was a dancer and choreographer. His activities took him to a number of European capitals, among them Vienna, where he worked from 1853 to 1874.
