Description
Ceremony marking the presentation of the National Medal of Arts, with opening and closing speeches by President Ronald Reagan. Nancy Reagan presents the medals, with brief introductory speeches, to twelve recipients: Marian Anderson, Frank Capra, Aaron Copland, Willem de Kooning, Agnes de Mille, Eva Le Gallienne, Alan Lomax, Lewis Mumford, Eudora Welty, Dominique de Menil, Exxon Corporation, and Seymour H. Knox. There are no acceptance speeches, and the awards are accepted in person only by de Mille, Lomax, Welty, de Menil, and Knox.
