Acquisition: Gift; Lillian Moore.
Biographical/historical: The German lithographer Franz Wolf, who was active in Vienna ca. 1820-1840, may be the artist listed in Thieme-Becker, who was born and died in Vienna, 1795-1859. He is said to have studied at the Viennese Academy from 1811, and worked in Vienna as a painter of portraits and landscapes.

Description
The print Elisium in Wien is titled after its location, the Elysium, an underground entertainment center in the Seitzerhof, a Viennese inn. In the elaborately decorated chamber, the guests converse, ogle one another, or sedately dance as musicians play on a gallery.
