Description
"After having been first taken from West Africa to Barbados, and then to Virginia, the author arrived in England aged 12 in 1757. This was the beginning of a life spent mainly at sea or in the West Indies until he was granted his freedom. This was a pivotal text for the anti-slavery movement, and in this edition the author claims in his foreword that his reputation had been smeared by the pro-slavery lobby." -- from book dealer's description.
