Content: Video documentation of the festival The early years: American modern dance from 1900 through the 1930s, hosted by SUNY College at Purchase, New York, on April 9-12, 1981, under the sponsorship of State University of New York, University-Wide Programs in the Arts. Festival director: Patricia Kerr Ross. Video producer: Daniel Labeille.
Content: Videotaped on April 10, 1981 by D. A. Pennebaker. Title in festival program: Humphrey-Weidman technique. The change of subject is announced orally by the lecturer, Nona Schurman. Lecture-demonstration on the choreographic principles that shaped the works of Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman. Humphrey's New dance, a section of which was choreographed by Weidman, is used to illustrate Schurman's remarks. The middle section of this presentation, which consists of two excerpts from New dance performed by the Deborah Carr Theatre Dance Ensemble, appears on: *MGZIDF 3551 (formerly *MGZIC 9-950 cassette 48).
