Description
Plates consist of nature prints (in this case, prints made by intaglio electrotype plates produced from a mold of the object); most are printed in one color, with additional etched illustrations of details in the same color and lettering in black, some are printed in 2 (or rarely 3) colors à la poupée, and some include hand coloring; some appear to have tonal areas in aquatint. Numbered plates include 22 1/2, 47A/B, 59A/B/C, 68A/B, 69A/B, 70A/B/C/, 91A/B/C/, 92A/B, and 206B (preceded by 206); the last plate (v.4, facing p. 213) is unnumbered. Each volume has added engraved title page printed in black, with a cartouche containing a nature print printed in color ink.
