A set of five sketchbooks containing a total of 244 drawings (including one photograph) in pencil, ink, and wash, ranging in date from 1853 to 1881. They depict homesteads, towns, open landscapes, humorous incidents, Civil War scenes and resort areas. In front of each sketchbook a list of content has been inserted.
