Content: Legend: four lines of poetry in French, beginning "De la belle Psychè, tels sont les traits charmans..."
Content: Teresa Fogliazzi Angiolini (1733-1792) in a scene from a ballet based on the legend of Eros and Psyche. Fogliazzi, wearing lace ruffle around neck, low-cut paniered ball gown trimmed with lace, flowers, and ribbons, shoes with heels.
Content: The dancer is depicted full length to front, weight on left foot, right leg slightly extended to side, upper torso turned to right, eyes front. Fogliazzi, as Psyche, holds a lamp above Cupid, who is asleep, foreground right. Outdoor setting. A wall and large column partially visible at right.
