Notes
Content: Engraving, probably by Berthet after Binet, of a scene from Lully's opera-ballet Psyché.
Content: Depicts Jupiter with crown and scepter, resting on an eagle, among clouds filled with divinities. Beneath him, two ladies attend the little god Amor, holding a bow. In the foreground below, ladies in elaborate dresses and wigs dance holding hands. Costumes feature décolletage, panniers, and decorative garlands. Musicians along the bottom. Style of dress suggests late 18th century, rather than date of original production in 1678.
