Description
Part 1. Unidentified BBC radio host interviews Leida Snow on the telephone. She reports on the battle for profits from the Rockettes (the Music Hall dance troupe and its Christmas shows) between two richest families in America, the Rockefellers, owners of Radio City Music Hall and the Rockettes, and the Pritzkers, owners of the Hyatt hotel chain. The Pritzkers helped the Rockefellers financially during their hard times in return for a share in the profits from some of the Rockettes performances, but that agreement fell apart because the controlling interest (51%) of the Rockefeller Group was sold to the Mitsubishi Estate Company of Tokyo. Part 2. Leida Snow interviews Norma Munn, the chairwoman of the New York City Arts Coalition, a citywide advocacy group, who discusses the budget cuts in city funding for various art groups and the struggles for individual artists in New York in the 1990's.
