Sound quality is fair. The recording is marred by "tape hiss" (in streaming files 1 and 2) as well as occasional short gaps, but for the most part the speakers' voices are easily intelligible.

Interview with Gerald Arpino conducted by John Gruen as research for an article in The New York Times, on September 13 and 22, 1975, in New York, N.Y. Streaming file 1, September 13, 1975 (approximately 48 minutes). Gerald Arpino speaks with John Gruen about the American male dancer; his thoughts on Mikhail Baryshnikov; attitudes toward male ballet dancers in the United States; changes in training that would raise the level of male dancers in the United States; his relationship with the dancers [in the Joffrey Ballet]; choreographing for his male dancers; his work [Relativity of] Icarus; his upcoming work Orpheus [Orpheus times light]; some of the male dancers in the company [ends abruptly but continues on streaming file 2].
