Description
A scene from Act III of the March 1858 production of Félicien David's Opera La perle du Brésil, Théâtre-Lyrique, Paris. Depicts a jungle in Brazil, with large tropical plants, hanging vines and uprooted trees. Portuguese officers and sailors, about to be attacked by Brazilian warriors, watch as Zora quiets the natives by invoking the god of the forest.
