Description
Three nude men and three women in antique draperies prance in a frieze-like procession, possibly on their way to a bacchanalian revel. The men all play musical instruments: a double-belled horn, panpipes, and an aulos. The woman at far left carries two circular objects that may also be musical instruments. The woman at center carries a wreath of grape leaves and tendrils, while the woman at far right swirls a scarf over her head. Suspended over their heads are small objects that may bear symbolic significance: among them birds, a bell, a small human figure between two bearded profiles, a man's profile, the letters "I + H" flanked by bearded profiles, a putto with a sword atop a dragon, and others.
