Biographical/historical: Antoine Watteau's original oil painting La danse champêtre, also known by the titles The country dance or Pastoral dance (ca. 1706-1710), is held by Indianapolis Museum of Art. It is believed to be his earliest known painting. This print reverses the image.

Depiction of a couple in peasant dress, dancing in a landscape. Three musicians accompany them, playing bagpipes, a wind instrument, and the tambourine. A child tugs at the woman's skirt.
