Notes
Source identifier: 24311a (Hades Legacy Identifier / Struc ID)
Content: Image includes a small sketch of the front of the garment, as the larger, main view shows it from the back.
Content: Military-style "officer's" coat with double breasted front and belted back. The start of war in Europe and the reinstitution of the draft in the US meant that military matters were much on people's minds when this coat was designed. Though this is an "officer's coat", only enlisted personnel would wear stripes (see sleeve) as a badge of rank. Note the jaunty matching soldier's cap, seemingly styled after a French kepi.
Content: Printed on image: "Belted back and double breasted front." "designed by Pearl Alexander" "André 570 - 7th Ave. New York City Dec. 16, 1940"
Date: Illustration origninally bound in Spring, 1940-1941.
