Teachers spotlighted in demonstration classes are Serge Golovine (steps of elevation), Yasmine Piletta (mime), Irina Grjebina (character dance), and Jacqueline Moreau (pointe technique). Paris Opéra Ballet dancers Eric Vu An and Noella Pontois perform variations, demonstrate steps, and converse with Bessy and students. Bessy interviews former dancer Patrice Bart, who is now balletmaster at the Opéra. Pianist Philippe Reverdy discusses accompaniment for ballet classes. Dance excerpts depict Vu An in variations from La bayadère (chor: Rudolf Nureyev after Petipa; mus: Minkus), Pontois in the Sugarplum Fairy's variation from The nutcracker (chor: Roland Petit, mus: Tchaikovsky) and in Aurora's variation from Act I of The sleeping beauty (chor: Alicia Alonso after Petipa, mus: Tchaikovsky), and school performances of Les deux pigeons (chor: Albert Aveline after Mérante, mus: Messager) and Graduation ball (chor: David Lichine, mus: Strauss).
