Extent: 1 print : etching?, b&w ; 23 x 31 cm., plate mark 13 x 15 cm.
Description
Scene from a ballet set in a tropical clime, with palm trees in the background. Six dark-skinned men dance at center stage, with round objects, possibly cymbals, in their hands. A seventh man, in a conical hat, moves towards them from upstage. On either side are small buildings, some without walls, piled with bales of goods. Groups of people mill about, paying little heed to the dancers. A waterfront is suggested in the distance by the shapes of ships and sails.
