Description
Dance work by a dancer-choreographer born in Curaçao. Matutina (Early morning) was inspired by Maryse Condé's book Three women in Manhattan. Presented as part of Revisiones, described in the program as "a collaborative effort of Pepatián, an interdisciplinary artist organization headed by Merián Soto and Pepón Osorio; Pregones Theater, directed by Rosalba Rolón, Alvan Colón-Lespier, Jorge B. Merced and Judith Rivera; and the Suitcase Fund of Dance Theater Workshop: A Project of Ideas and Means in Cross-Cultural Relations." The works in the series are intended to "'disturb and revise' post-Columbian history in a way that creates a visible identity of self and regional culture."
