Content: Partnership of lithographic printers Hugh M. Clay and Henry A. Richmond dates from the year the lithograph was issued. The firm endured until 1886.
Content: The contemporary print from which this lithograph of Federal Hall was made is the copper engraving by Cornelius Tiebout, of approximately the same size, shown in entry 184. The date 1789 is given on the ninetenth-century lithograph in an attempt to peg to scene to the first presidential inauguration, even though Tiebout did not make his original drawing until 1791 or thereabouts.
