Description
The Pawo - or village oracle is an important part of the Bhutanese ritual environment. He performs rituals for a variety of purposes: divination, removal of obstacles etc. Accompanying himself on the pellet drum the pawo sings and dances until he falls into a state of trance - understood to be the time when he is possessed by his familiar spirit. It is quite rare to be allowed to film such rituals. This was the second time that we had invited Pawo Dorji to perform a ritual - the first one was a Divination ritual for Mike - this one to remove any obstacles surrounding the HAA Project.
