William Augustine Washington (1757-1810) of Westmoreland County, Virginia, was the son of George Washington’s half-brother, Augustine Washington (1718?-1762). The collection consists of two letters written to Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer, Intendant of Revenue for the State of Maryland, regarding the sale of land held by the Principio Company, 1783 and 1785; a letter to Nathaniel Ramsay requesting a new land title certificate for Christopher Hughes of Baltimore, 1784; and an undated letter written jointly with his third wife, Sarah Washington, to his son, George Corbin Washington, at the family plantation Haywood, probably circa 1810. It chiefly concerns the sailing of a vessel with freight for Haywood, and related instructions.
