Biographical/historical: Louis Falco (1942-1993) was an American dancer, choreographer, and director. He studied at the American Ballet Theatre School, American Ballet Center, and with Jose Limón, Charles Weidman, and Martha Graham, making his debut with the Limón Dance Company in 1960. In 1967 he formed his own group, the Louis Falco Dance Company, for which he choreographed many works, including Caviar (1970), Escargot (1978), and Kate's Rag (1980), the majority of which were set to music by Burt Alcantara. He disbanded his company in 1983. Many of his early dances tended towards lyrical abstraction but after 1971 he increasingly incorporated text and props. He also made works for Nederlands Dans Theater (Eclipse, 1974), for Ballet Rambert (Tutti Frutti, 1973), and La Scala Ballet (The Eagle's Nest, 1980). In 1980 he choreographed the film Fame. Beginning in the 1980s he began choreographing for the music video and advertising industries.
