Content: One set design in watercolor for The Big Show, Act 1: Brighton Beach is signed Mark Lawson (1 of 3); the other two paintings in gouache, by same hand, one signed Nash, depict scenes and performers in The Big Show (2 of 3 and 3 of 3).
Biographical/historical: The Big Show, a musical revue staged by R. H. Burnside and produced by Charles Dillingham with music by Raymond Hubbell, ran at the Hippodrome from 1916-1917. Mark Lawson was one of the scenic designers.
