Biographical/historical: Thomas Henry Graham was born 25 June 1793 to Elizabeth Susanna Davenport Graham, the children's book writer, and her husband, a lawyer, Thomas Graham (1751-1813), of Edmond Castle. Thomas Henry went to Harrow School, then Cambridge University, after which he took a two year Grand Tour. He served as Deputy Lieutenant and Justice of the Peace for Cumberland, and was appointed High Sheriff in 1824. In 1829, he married Mary Carnegie, daughter of Sir David Carnegie. Graham died on 5 February 1881, at The Elms, Eastbourne.
