Depictions of Haitians living in the capital city of Port-au-Prince at the time of the ill-fated Presidential election in November 1987, consisting of views of grieving relatives and friends of victims of political violence attending funeral services; individuals trying to go about their daily lives amid squalor and violence; individuals gathered in various indoor and outdoor spaces; groups of men, possibly representing armed gangs; members of the Haitian army; front exteriors of dwellings; and building fronts covered with political slogans and campaign posters. Some images are darkly printed, obscuring details and casting figures into deep shadows. Of note is a view of a vandalized market place where a young man is carrying two chunks of raw meat in the background while the back of a knife-welding individual is in the foreground.
