Pomona Italiana

Collection Data

Description
Lawyer, civil servant, and botanist, Giorgio Gallesio conducted experiments on fruit which would be quoted by Charles Darwin. These drawing and texts give good representations of the fruits common to southern Italy in the first half of the 19th century. The aquatint plates were printed partially in color, and finished by hand.
