Description
Four volumes, in one t'ao. This is an illustrated interpretation of the Dream of the Red Chamber. Kai, Chi made all these drawings from his imagination. Each illustration represents on character in the book. There are fifty-one drawings in the first volume, the first of which is a picutre of Rock and Plant symbolizing the male and female, or Pao Yu the boy and Lin Tai-yu, the girl in the book. Immediately following the drawings are a few poems which were written about these two characters. Kai, Chi is one of the best artists of the ch'ing period.
