Collection consists of Rosenthal's personal correspondence, poetical works (chiefly in German), invitations, photographs, miscellaneous clippings, and other papers.
Biographical/historical: Herman Rosenthal (1843-1917), who emigrated to the U.S. from Russia in 1881, was the first chief of the Slavonic Division from 1899-1917 (now the Slavic and Baltic Division) of the New York Public Library.
