Content: The title page of v. 1 is dated 1782 and lacks the words "Vol. 1" appearing on t.p. of another issue dated 1783; v. 1 also lacks half title "A system of vegetables in two volumes." Soulsby considered the BM (Natural History) copy of this issue "probably a proof copy of vol. 1 of the 1783 edition ... It seems to be unique"; in fact, several copies are recorded, including Hunt's.
